Tokyo Disney Resort announced that the program “Disney Tanabata Days” will be offered at Tokyo Disneyland Park and Tokyo DisneySea Park from June 16 through July 7, 2016. This year, the event will be held over an extended period of three weeks. This program gives a Disney touch to Tanabata, the traditional Japanese event also known as the Star Festival. Guests can also enjoy the Tanabata atmosphere at Disney Ambassador Hotel, Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Ikspiari and on the Disney Resort Line. Guests can experience this seasonal program in a manner unique to Tokyo Disney Resort.
The Disney Characters will greet Guests in “Tanabata Greeting” at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Mickey Mouse and his friends will offer their greetings dressed in costumes themed to Tanabata.
At Tokyo Disneyland, a Wishing Place will be set up in the center of World Bazaar. There, Guests can write their hopes and wishes on Wishing Cards and tie them onto the Tanabata decorations just as the Disney Characters have done. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will ride on rickshaws along the parade route to greet Guests.
At Tokyo DisneySea, Guests will find a Wishing Place set up at Hudson River Docks in the New York area of American Waterfront. Appearing on a boat in Mediterranean Harbor for “Tanabata Greeting,” Mickey Mouse and his Disney pals will greet Guests to the traditional Tanabata song.
Both Parks will offer special merchandise for the occasion, including memo pads themed to the Wishing Cards written by the Disney Characters. Guests will be able to enjoy special menus that reflect both the season and the Tanabata theme. Guests ordering the special menus will receive an original Wishing Card.
In addition, Guests visiting the Park dressed in summer kimonos during the special event period can take part in “Yukata Disney Campaign” and enjoy Tanabata at the Park in a unique way.
