Hold onto your lightsabers and prepare your taste buds, Disney fans! The Disneyland Resort is currently hosting its dazzling “Season of the Force” event, running now through May 11. This celebration is a must-see for any Star Wars aficionado, not just for the thrilling rides and immersive experiences, but also for an array of delectable, themed treats that transport your palate to a galaxy far, far away.
Our gastronomic journey began in Galaxy’s Edge, where we got an exclusive sneak peek behind the curtains. The spotlight was on the delightful Coaxium Sipper and the Tauntaun popcorn bucket. Imagine the joy of munching on popcorn from this creatively designed container that pays homage to Han Solo’s clever (if somewhat chilly) improvisation from “The Empire Strikes Back.” Star Wars enthusiasts will find it hard to resist adding this item to their collection of themed paraphernalia.
Our adventure continued with a series of mouth-watering bites at Docking Bay 7. Say goodbye to the immersive but confusing term “tip yip” and say hello to the more plainly named Fried Chicken Baos. These bao buns are a harmonious blend of tangy and spicy flavors. But it was the Fried Falumpaset Cheese Skewer that stole the show. Covered in crispy potato pieces and served with a side of cheese sauce for dipping, this handheld delight had us feeling like a member of the Cloud City elite.
Not to be outdone, Tomorrowland’s Galactic Grill offered an intriguing mixed experience. While the Galactic Gyro Burger with its questionable flavor combination left much to be desired, the Loaded Outpost Fries were a hearty, shareable option that, albeit uninspired, delivered on taste. The true highlight at the Grill, particularly for little Jedi in training, was the slush drinks complemented by mini lightsaber stirrers that light up. Perfect for sparking joy and lightsaber battles alike!
Though some of the old favorites, like the Darth By Chocolate parfait, were noticeably absent, the “Season of the Force” boasts enough variety and innovation to make any Star Wars fan’s foodie dreams come true. This is a great chance to immerse yourselves in the culinary delights of the Star Wars universe.
