Big changes are coming to Disney theme parks in the U.S. Disney has announced the launch of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, a premium service that allows guests to skip the line at attractions across the park without pre-selecting return times. The service will soon be available at both Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, but brace yourself—this convenience comes at a premium price that exceeds the park entry cost.
Walt Disney World kicks off this new offering on October 30, 2024, and it’s exclusively available to guests staying at Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resorts. Depending on the park, prices range from $129 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to as much as $449 at Magic Kingdom, plus tax, per person. With this pass, guests can skip the lines for all eligible rides once per day without having to schedule specific return times.
Over on the West Coast, Disneyland Resort unveils its version a week earlier, on October 23, 2024. Unlike Disney World, Disneyland’s Premier Pass is available to all guests, regardless of where they’re staying, and can be booked just two days in advance. The cost? A cool $400 per day per person for the remainder of 2024, with prices varying between $300 and $400 starting in 2025.
While this new Premier Pass might sound like a dream come true for those looking to maximize their park experience, it doesn’t come cheap. A family of four could easily spend upwards of $10,000 for a four-day visit including park entry, Premier Passes, and accommodations at a high-end Disney resort. It’s a hefty price tag that raises questions about accessibility and whether Disney is becoming a luxury experience priced out of reach for many families.
