On a recent trip to Disneyland Park, we were treated to a sneak peek at the ongoing refurbishment of the Main Street Station, as the iconic Disneyland Railroad gears up for its grand reopening later this month. A clearer view of the new roofing was presented as the themed scrim, which has been shielding the refurbishment works, was rolled up due to a wind advisory. This gave us a chance to glimpse some of the significant progress made on this beloved structure.
The Main Street Station, temporarily closed since August 5, has seen extensive work on its roof. The majority of the roofing materials have been stripped away, revealing a stark gray framework. However, some sections are beginning to showcase the station’s new look, with red roofing tiles being installed at various points. Notably, the intricate pattern that defines the classic look of the station’s roof is already starting to emerge on the far left end. This new roof replaces the faded, sun-bleached one that adorned the building earlier this year, adding a rejuvenated splash of color and detail to the entry point of Disneyland.
As we examined the refurbishment from different vantage points within and outside the park, it was clear that precision and craftsmanship were at the forefront of this project. The detailed red roof, adorned with a repeating pattern of light and dark diamonds and half circles, is nothing short of enchanting. Construction crews have also been working diligently on other parts of the station, including the clock tower adorned in scaffolding, heightening the anticipation for what’s to come.
The Disneyland Railroad is set to welcome guests once again on October 25, coinciding with the opening of the newly reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. Guests eagerly awaiting the return will appreciate the extensive updates, including new tracks laid in sections of the attraction to enhance the experience. While construction at New Orleans Square Station persists due to ongoing works for Tiana’s Palace and the expanded Haunted Mansion grounds, the magic of Disneyland is clearly thriving.
