Are Disney’s Moderate Resorts Really Worth It?

As many Disney fans know, the pricing tiers for Walt Disney World resorts can make a huge difference in your overall experience. Ranging from the Value tier at $200 to $300 per night, to the Deluxe tier from $500 to upward of $1,200, you might find yourself navigating the middle ground in the Moderate category, which runs from $330 to $470 nightly [Source: The DIS](https://www.wdwinfo.com/walt-disney-world/why-walt-disney-worlds-moderate-resorts-disappoint-guests/). Despite this tier promising a balanced blend of affordability and upgraded amenities, a closer look reveals some guests feel that the value just isn’t there.

Moderate resorts, such as Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Coronado Springs, do offer added perks like more intricate theming, a selection of bars, and hot tubs. However, these are still a noticeable step down from what the Deluxe offerings present. Unlike Deluxe resorts, Moderate resorts still utilize motel-style doors that open to the outdoors, which isn’t ideal in Florida’s often extreme weather. Plus, sprawling layouts mean you might end up walking considerable distances to get to main areas like the lobby or dining spots, a trek seldom required at Value resorts.

The superior benefits of Deluxe resorts are palpable. Proximity to theme parks, exceptional dining experiences, and superior transportation options, generally elevate the Deluxe stay miles ahead of their Moderate counterparts. Even the highly-touted Skyliner service available at Caribbean Beach doesn’t far outweigh that found at certain Value resorts like Pop Century and Art of Animation, which also enjoy Skyliner access. This raises an interesting point—why pay more when you end up walking the same distances and using similar transportation?

So, what’s the fix? Upgrading rooms, expanding transport options like the Skyliner, and adding unique amenities could narrow the gap. Additionally, offering perks like Extra Evening Hours occasionally to Moderate guests could turn those evening park strolls into cherished memories, adding much needed value to this tier.

Disney certainly has the magic touch, but it seems there’s room for improvement within their Moderate resort offerings. What are your thoughts?
