It’s the Halloween season, and you’re debating whether to head to Walt Disney World for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) at Magic Kingdom or make your way to Disneyland Resort for the Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure. Having had the chance to attend both, I’m here to help you decide by breaking down key differences and highlights.

**Treat Trails**
The treat trails form a cornerstone for both events, but they vary significantly. At Oogie Boogie Bash, the treat trails are hosted by Disney villains who interact with guests from their stages, making for an entertaining experience that’s perfect for photos and videos. In contrast, MNSSHP offers treat trails purely for candy collection. Though enjoyable, the time constraints often make it tricky to balance trick-or-treating, character meet-and-greets, and shows in one evening.

**Characters**
Characters at both events are a massive draw, especially the rare villains. Oogie Boogie Bash boasts an impressive array of villains within the treat trails and elsewhere in the park. At MNSSHP, characters are allocated specific meet-and-greet zones, which can result in notably long lines. Strategically getting in line early or during parades can make your wait more manageable.

**Food and Dining**
MNSSHP seems to excel with its variety of exclusive food items. Guests can enjoy sit-down dining experiences at notable spots like Cinderella’s Royal Table and Be Our Guest, along with dessert viewing parties for the fireworks. While Oogie Boogie Bash previously offered many exclusive treats, recent years have shown a reduction. Nevertheless, the event does feature options like Wine Country Trattoria dinner with reserved parade viewing and a delightful dessert party.

**Shows and Entertainment**
When it comes to performances and spectacles, MNSSHP steals the show. Mickey’s Boo to You Parade is captivatingly longer and features more elements. Additionally, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular offer dazzling entertainment that can’t be missed. Oogie Boogie Bash, while featuring the engaging Villains Grove and Frightfully Fun Parade, simply can’t outshine the lineup at MNSSHP.

**Costumes**
Halloween costumes add an extra layer of fun to both events. While guests are encouraged to dress up at both venues, I’ve noticed a higher enthusiasm for costumes at Oogie Boogie Bash. This could be attributed to the slightly more temperate weather in California during the fall months compared to Orlando.

These comparisons should help you plan an unforgettable Halloween trip fit for you and your family. While this year’s events are sold out, there’s always a chance to experience the magic next year. Season’s screamings, Insiders!
