Fantastic news for Monorail enthusiasts and Disneyland visitors! After a four-year hiatus, the nose cone section of the Monorail is open to the public once again. First closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic, this beloved feature has returned, offering guests an unmatched view from the very front of the Monorail, right alongside the pilot. According to a report from WDW News Today, it truly is an experience worth waiting for.
For those unfamiliar, Disneyland’s Monorail is not just a mode of transportation but a ride in itself. This zero-emission marvel takes guests on a scenic 2.5-mile round trip, lasting about 13 minutes. The route connects Downtown Disney and Tomorrowland, making it both a practical and enjoyable way to get around the Disneyland Resort.
Originally opened in June 1959, the Monorail holds the title of the first daily operating monorail system in the Western Hemisphere. Throughout the years, it has adapted and evolved with the park, incorporating the latest technological advancements while maintaining its charming, retro-futuristic appeal.
When Disneyland reopened its gates in April 2021, the Monorail followed a few months later in October. However, until now, the front and back cabins remained off-limits to guests. With no separate line for these special seats, simply inform the Cast Members at the station of your wish to ride in the nose cone—they’ll do their best to accommodate you on the next available trip.
Operating hours for the Monorail are from 8 a.m. to midnight, welcoming guests of all heights and ages, although children under 7 need to be accompanied by someone 14 or older. It’s a delightful experience that’s now partially restored to its full glory. Share your thoughts on this exciting update in the comments and let us know your favorite Monorail memories!
