On a recent Wednesday, Disneyland’s iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle became the unexpected backdrop for a bold statement by pro-Palestine protesters. Visitors were met with a poignant scene as two demonstrators, adorned with Palestinian keffiyehs, unfurled a large banner. The message on the banner was both arresting and sobering: it equated the number of daily visitors to Disneyland with the tragic death toll in Gaza, urging onlookers to honor the over 40,000 Palestinians who, as the banner poignantly put it, “could not live ‘Happily Ever After.'”

The protest was brief yet impactful. A TikTok video shared by user Natalie Curling captured the moment and the subsequent approach by Disneyland security. In the footage, the protesters are seen complying peacefully when asked to put away their banner. With a nod of acknowledgment, they rolled up the banner and left the castle grounds without further incident. This peaceful departure reinforced the demonstrators’ intent to raise awareness without disruption.

This episode at Disneyland echoes a similar protest earlier this year. In May, pro-Palestine demonstrators were arrested in Florida after blocking traffic on I-4, near Walt Disney World. This ongoing series of protests highlights the lengths to which activists will go to draw attention to international crises, even in the most unexpected of places.
