Starting this October, Disneyland visitors will witness a transformation at the park’s entry gates. This eagerly awaited project is set to enhance both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, offering a smoother and more inclusive entry experience. The phased update, set for completion in 2025, promises a host of improvements that will delight guests.

The pioneer phase kicks off on October 7, 2024, focusing on the west side entry gates of Disneyland Park. Permit filings back in December 2023 laid the groundwork for this enhancement, which was publicly unveiled in January 2024. The modernization effort aims to add more entry gates, improve stroller access, and ensure greater ADA accessibility.

For Disneyland Park’s update, the existing turnstiles and gates will be removed, making way for new automatic guest entry gates, manual gates, and adjustable railings. Overhead shrouds will also be installed, adding to the infrastructure’s aesthetics and functionality. Similarly, Disney California Adventure will see the introduction of automatic gates and manual options, along with the mentioned overhead shrouds.

This project also opens the door to potential technological advancements. In March 2024, Disneyland Resort tested a new facial recognition entry system at Disney California Adventure. While it’s uncertain if this technology will be a permanent fixture, it highlights Disney’s continuous effort to innovate and enhance the guest experience.

We’re excited to see these updates and how they will improve the overall experience for park-goers. What are your thoughts on these new entry gates at Disneyland? Share your comments below—we’d love to hear your take!
