Exciting news for Disneyland Resort guests! The iconic Disneyland Monorail has just reopened its front seats, a cherished experience that has been unavailable since the pandemic’s onset. The Disneyland Monorail, a trailblazing, zero-emission transportation marvel introduced by Walt Disney in 1959, has long been a favorite among park visitors. Guests were thrilled when Disney announced the restoration of this unique experience, allowing them to once again ride in the “nose cone” of the monorail.
COVID-19 saw both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park close their gates on March 14, 2020, with a prolonged hiatus until April 30, 2021. Upon reopening, stringent health and safety measures were in place, and many beloved attractions and experiences, including the front seats of the monorail, remained off-limits. Fans had feared that this special seating option might be gone forever, but Disney had a delightful surprise in store.
X (formerly known as Twitter) user @Mouskegamer shared a video celebrating the return of the front-seat experience. However, it’s worth noting that the back of the monorail remains closed for guests at this time. The Disneyland Monorail travels between Downtown Disney District and Tomorrowland, making stops just above the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, offering picturesque views of the park.
Comparatively, the Disneyland Monorail has a shorter track than its counterpart at Walt Disney World Resort, which spans 14.7 miles and connects various key locations. It’s also essential to mention that riding upfront on Disney World’s monorail is no longer allowed due to a tragic accident in 2009. Meanwhile, Tokyo Disney Resort’s Disney Resort Line provides an enchanting monorail experience, although it requires a paid ticket.
