Exciting news for Space Mountain fans! After a brief closure, the iconic Tomorrowland roller coaster at Disneyland Resort has reopened with dazzling new updates. The ride, which has been a beloved fixture since 1977, now features sensational restored special effects, including the long-awaited return of the mesmerizing blue lights in the tunnel at the start of the ride.

This beloved cornerstone of Disneyland Park has certainly seen its share of changes over the years, with versions in other Disney parks around the world, from the original in Walt Disney World Resort in 1975 to variants in Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Tokyo Disneyland. Notably, both Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disney Resort have reimagined their rides as Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, adding a new layer to the classic coaster experience.

Tokyo Disney Resort is also undergoing a major transformation, having permanently closed its Space Mountain to build an entirely new version set to debut in 2027, rumored to be named “Space Mountain Earthrise.” The anticipation for this new attraction is high, but Disneyland Park’s more modest updates are already thrilling guests who are delighted to see their favorite ride shine brighter than ever.

Disney Parks enthusiasts took to social media to express their excitement, with @magicwithgabi sharing on TikTok, “the blue lights are back at Space Mountain, and they look phenomenal.” Fans had been eagerly waiting for the refurbishment to bring new energy to the ride, and it certainly hasn’t disappointed. “The refurb was well done,” she concluded. “I love it so much.”

Walt Disney Imagineers have once again proven their magic touch, bringing smiles and nostalgia to longtime fans. As @swag._.ho commented, “So nostalgic. I remember seeing those lights when I was younger.” The Disneyland Resort continues to captivate and surpass expectations, making each visit a memorable adventure.
