One of the standout features of Walt Disney World Resort is its sprawling size, covering more than 43 square miles in Central Florida. With such a vast area, diverse transportation options like the monorail, Skyliner, buses, boats, and ferries are essential. Even the parking lots are so expansive that trams ferry guests from the lot to the park entrance. At Magic Kingdom, parking takes place at the Ticket & Transportation Center, from where guests hop onto a monorail or ferry to reach the park.
In stark contrast, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, spans a modest 500 acres—small enough to fit inside Disney World’s Ticket and Transportation Center parking lot! This compact size offers its own set of conveniences; guests can park in the Mickey & Friends, Pixar, or Toy Story lots and walk to the theme parks and Downtown Disney District. Trams and buses also assist in transporting guests from these lots to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
However, navigating these lots isn’t always straightforward. Recently, a curious security measure caught the attention of Disneyland visitors. X user @MHawk9955 highlighted that Disneyland had stationed a security guard at the entrance to a non-backstage parking lot, preventing guests from walking through. The specific lot in question is part of the Downtown Disney parking area, often used by guests to shorten their walk from the Pixar lot.
Opinions on this move were mixed. While some understood the safety concerns, others found the measure puzzling, noting that the lot isn’t routinely blocked off. Disney’s sporadic enforcement puzzled many, considering that guests typically traverse various parking lots to catch trams and clear security.
