Wednesday brought an unexpected turn of events for Disneyland Park guests as the renowned theme park faced an unprecedented shutdown, leaving thousands of eager visitors disheartened. As Disneyland Resort opened its gates in Southern California, enthusiasts quickly found themselves scrambling, trying to locate an operational ride.

Ride malfunctions and temporary closures are not entirely uncommon at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Typically, these brief disruptions resolve within an hour and cause minimal inconvenience. However, this particular Wednesday morning painted a bleaker picture for the early attendees.

Several Disneyland attractions, including fan favorites like Indiana Jones Adventure, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, remained closed well past the park’s opening hours. Frustrated guest @LeopardAdditional525 shared their dismay on Reddit, lamenting that all major rides they had eagerly anticipated were shut down. Fellow park-goer @dericiouswon echoed these sentiments, noting the particularly rough experience.

Some speculated that an earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, which struck 90 miles from Anaheim the previous evening, could have contributed to the delays. User @thatguyfromlasvegas suggested the park might have been conducting post-quake inspections to ensure ride safety.

It’s worth noting that more attractions are currently closed for scheduled maintenance, including Space Mountain, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and the Disneyland Railroad. Furthermore, Splash Mountain permanently ceased operations on May 31 in preparation for the launch of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, set to open on November 15, 2024.

Despite the morning’s chaos, the good news is that most rides reopened later in the day. Disneyland Resort management has yet to make a public statement, but guests are encouraged to check the Disneyland Resort app for up-to-the-minute information on ride closures and reopenings.
