Disneyland is set to enchant visitors with a plethora of new attractions based on beloved franchises such as Avatar, Coco, the Avengers, and even Walt Disney himself! Over the next five years, the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim will transform, adding layers of magic and excitement for guests of all ages.
At the recent D23 Expo, Disney Parks Chairperson Josh D’Amaro unveiled plans for seven spectacular attractions. “Everything we’re going to share with you is in active development,” D’Amaro assured the crowd. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store.
First up, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a reimagining of the beloved Splash Mountain, is set to debut on November 15, 2024, just in time for the holiday season. This revamped ride will be the centerpiece of the newly renamed Bayou Country area.
In 2025, prepare to meet the world’s first Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure at the Main Street Opera House. The show, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” will run solo initially before joining the rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”
Star Wars enthusiasts will be thrilled with the upcoming update to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu. This exciting addition is slated to align with the release of a new film in May 2026.
Marvel fans, rejoice! Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab are set to expand the Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. While Infinity Defense could open as early as 2026, Stark Flight Lab might follow in 2027 or beyond, offering unique experiences that will immerse guests in the Marvel Universe.
The vibrant world of Coco will come to life in a new attraction at Disney California Adventure, whisking visitors away to the Land of the Dead alongside Miguel. Construction begins in 2026, with a projected debut in 2027.
Lastly, a new Avatar-themed area will transport guests to the mesmerizing seas of Pandora. Although timelines are tentative, expectations are high for a 2028 or 2029 debut.
