When you think of Disney magic, your mind might immediately turn to the bustling parks of Walt Disney World or Disneyland. But what if I told you there’s a relaxing, tranquil escape on Florida’s east coast that captures that same enchanting spirit? That place is Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing it firsthand.

Located approximately a 90-minute drive from the heart of Walt Disney World, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort opened its doors on October 1st, 1995, marking it as the first Disney Vacation Club resort situated away from a Disney theme park. Alongside Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii, Vero Beach is part of Disney’s trio of off-property vacation gems.

Driving up to the resort, I was immediately taken in by its quaint yet striking architecture. Upon entering the spacious, sea turtle-themed lobby, I felt right at home with that quintessential Disney ambiance. A unique highlight of the resort is the annual Tour de Turtles event, an educational spectacle that tracks sea turtles from their nesting beaches to their feeding grounds, providing vital data for species protection.

Culinary offerings at Disney’s Vero Beach include the delightful Wind & Waves Grill and a convenient quick-service Marketplace. I especially enjoyed the Green Cabin Room, a small bar exuding a nautical charm that brought back memories of Disney Cruise Line adventures. This charming spot, just a few steps from my room, reinforced my thoughts that Vero Beach feels like a serene, Disney Cruise on land.

The resort features a fantastic pool and slide complex, a Peter Pan-themed mini-golf course, and a private beach entrance where you might even spot a sea turtle nest. Another gem includes a pedestrian tunnel under the main road leading to a picturesque lake with natural trails, perfect for a quiet stroll or spotting local wildlife.

And let’s not forget the rooms—modern yet cozy, with some offering stunning ocean views right from your balcony. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making my stay even more enjoyable. If you’re thinking of a tranquil getaway with all the Disney flair, I highly recommend spending a few days at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.
