Big changes are coming to Disneyland this holiday season! Critter Country will soon be transformed into Bayou Country, marking a major milestone for the park as it continues to evolve its themed lands with new and innovative experiences. The magical transformation is set to coincide with the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on November 15.
“Bayou Country is situated on the edge of New Orleans Square with shady trees, mesmerizing music, and a vast collection of enchanting surprises. Guests will discover a land filled with friendly woodland animals, from a trumpet-playing gator and an adorable bear who craves honey to a musical cast of bears, frogs, and other critters,” according to the Disney Parks Blog. The area promises to be a delightful nod to the magic and music that fans of Princess Tiana love.
In this reimagined land, guests won’t miss out on fan favorites like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes. Plus, visitors can enjoy some new and updated offerings such as the newly reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree restaurant, shop at Ray’s Berets and Louis’ Critter Club, and indulge in treats at Pooh Corner.
Critter Country, which has been closed since May 1, has undergone name changes before. Initially known as Bear Country, it was home to Disneyland’s Country Bear Jamboree before becoming Critter Country in 1989, ahead of the opening of Splash Mountain. This latest change brings a fresh atmosphere to an area rich in history and nostalgia.
