Yesterday marked a thrilling yet terrifying day for thousands of Disneyland visitors in California when a seismic shockwave forced an unprecedented evacuation of all rides and attractions. Guests were swiftly moved to safety as a result of a 4.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the Los Angeles area.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake’s epicenter was near the Los Angeles neighborhood of Highland Park, at a depth of about 7.5 miles. The tremor was felt widely across Southern California, from Los Angeles all the way to San Diego. Despite the strong shaking that swayed buildings and set off car alarms, no major injuries or damages were reported.

In response to the quake, Disneyland immediately shut down its rides to conduct thorough inspections. Guests were asked to remain patient as safety protocols were meticulously followed to ensure the safety of each attraction before they could be reopened. Safety measures included dropping to the ground, taking cover under sturdy furniture, and holding on to maintain stability during the tremors.

Amid the chaos, notable disruptions occurred across the region. A pipe burst at the historic Pasadena City Hall, leading to the evacuation of 200 employees and a dramatic water spill from an upper floor. In Anaheim, dishes rattled, and social media buzzed with images of scattered shampoo bottles and other items shaken off store shelves.

Disneyland guests experienced a mix of concern and curiosity, some even quipping on social media about their first Disneyland earthquake. The park advised following safety protocols and waiting for all-clear signals from staff before resuming activities, ensuring that every ride was deemed safe for operation.
