As Walt Disney famously proclaimed, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” This spirit of perpetual innovation was vibrantly showcased at the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, as the company unveiled exciting new rides, lands, and experiences set to transform their parks worldwide.
During the “Horizons: D23 Disney Experiences Showcase,” Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman, revealed a series of thrilling developments. These are not mere “Blue Sky” ideas but active projects with plans underway and construction in progress. D’Amaro emphasized, “We are doing everything you’ve heard here tonight.”
**Walt Disney World, Florida:**
One of the most anticipated announcements for Walt Disney World is the introduction of a Villains-themed land in Magic Kingdom, tantalizing guests with a blend of dark enchantment and mischievous fun “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain.” Frontierland is also set for a dramatic transformation with “Cars” attractions bringing the high-octane excitement of the beloved franchise to the American West.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Studios will welcome a new Monsters, Inc. land, promising a not-at-all-scary romp through Monstropolis, featuring a thrilling roller coaster among other attractions. At Animal Kingdom, the dinosaurs will bow out to make way for Tropical Americas with an “Indiana Jones” attraction and an immersive Encanto village.
**Disneyland, California:**
Across the country in Disneyland, California Adventure will soon immerse guests in the wonders of Pandora with an Avatar-themed land based on “Avatar: The Way of Water.” Avengers Campus will expand with two new rides, including Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, the latter featuring a ride system previewed by Robert Downey Jr.
Adding to the allure, California Adventure will debut its first “Coco” ride, offering a vibrant journey inspired by the movie’s heartfelt celebration of music and family. Lastly, Walt Disney himself will be brought to life in the form of a new Audio-Animatronic in a show titled “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” set at the Main Street Opera House.
**Cruises and Global Additions:**
The Disney Cruise Line is not being left behind, with its fleet set to expand to 13 ships over the next few years. Globally, new Avengers experiences are slated for Shanghai Disneyland Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland, while Disneyland Paris will introduce a Lion King flume ride and a Frozen addition in 2026.
