The magical world of Disney just got a bit more enchanting with the thrilling announcement at D23 Expo 2024. During the ever-popular “Disney Experiences” panel at Anaheim’s Honda Center, The Walt Disney Company revealed exciting details about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the highly anticipated reimagining of Splash Mountain at Disneyland Resort.
Following in the footsteps of Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, which saw the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on June 28, 2024, Disneyland is set to unveil its own version. Mark your calendars, Disney fans: On November 15, 2024, Disneyland Park will officially open the doors to this Louisiana-inspired attraction. Adding a dash more Disney magic, Critter Country will be rechristened as “Bayou Country,” offering a delightful new theme for guests to explore.
At the heart of this adventure, Princess Tiana and her friends, including Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, and Louis, will lead you on a joyous journey celebrating the rich culture of New Orleans. While the ride’s overall theme will be consistent with its Floridian counterpart, Disneyland’s version boasts some exclusive animatronic scenes and ride elements. Walt Disney Imagineers are keeping these differences under wraps for now, but fans are eagerly anticipating the unique touches.
Bayou Country won’t just be home to Tiana’s new venture; it will also host existing favorites such as The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, and Pooh Corner. To complement the reimagined land, new dining and shopping experiences, including the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Ray’s Berets, and Louis’ Critter Club, will keep guests entertained and well-fed.
As some parts of Bayou Country might welcome guests before the ride’s official opening, keep your eyes peeled for soft launches. And while there’s no confirmation yet, there’s speculation that similar to Magic Kingdom’s edition, Disneyland’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure might also employ a Virtual Queue system, making planning your visit even more essential.
