Exciting updates are coming to Disneyland!

At the recent Disney Experiences Showcase at D23, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairperson, Josh D’Amaro, unveiled plans for new rides and attractions as part of Disneyland’s ambitious DisneylandForward expansion project. One of the standout announcements was the introduction of an Avatar-themed land, set to enchant visitors at Disney’s California Adventure. Adding to the thrill, the park will also welcome its first-ever ride focused on the beloved film “Coco.”

In a fascinating twist, D’Amaro announced the addition of an animatronic of Walt Disney himself, set to appear in a new show at Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House. This unique feature is sure to delight Disney fans and history buffs alike. The Princess and the Frog fans will be elated to know that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially open at Disneyland on Nov. 15.

This $1.9 billion expansion, greenlit by the Anaheim City Council on May 7, will revamp existing rides, attractions, lands, lodging, entertainment, and shopping venues without enlarging the park’s current square footage. The areas west of Disneyland Drive and the Toy Story Parking Area will undergo significant transformation. Moreover, Disney is committed to contributing to the broader Anaheim community by proposing affordable housing, a three-acre community park, and street and transportation improvements.

Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger hinted at the possibility of an Avatar experience at Disneyland, with renderings showcasing immersive Avatar-themed attractions. Iger emphasized the company’s commitment to creating innovative experiences, mentioning the success of previous endeavors like Star Wars, Avengers, and Pixar-themed lands. Josh D’Amaro also teased other exciting themes for Disneyland’s future, including Frozen, Black Panther, and Toy Story, among others.
