Disney fans, hold onto your Mickey ears! Big announcements from the D23 event have set the stage for thrilling new adventures at Disneyland Resort.

In a major reveal at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney unveiled plans for the first-ever ride based on Pixar’s acclaimed 2017 film, “Coco,” coming to Disney California Adventure. Drawing inspiration from iconic attractions like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, Imagineers promise a ride that will bring our favorite skeletal characters to life using cutting-edge Audio-Animatronics technology. “We’re bringing our skeletal cast of characters to life in a big way through the latest Audio-Animatronics technology,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences. Set to break ground in 2026, this magical ride is sure to become an instant classic.

But that’s not all—Disney California Adventure is set to expand further with a groundbreaking new “Avatar” land. Diverging from Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida, this new area will be inspired by “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” and future films in the franchise. Ali Rubinstein, global management executive of creative development at Walt Disney Imagineering, described it as “a dynamic, intense, and emotional experience on a grand scale that we know our guests will love.” Visitors can embark on an awe-inspiring journey with all the wonder and excitement of Pandora’s wide-open seas.

These new attractions are perfectly timed as the Disneyland Resort gears up for its 70th birthday on July 17, 2025. The additions aim to bring new levels of excitement and wonder to park-goers, both new and lifelong Disney fans.

We’d love to hear what you think! Are you excited about these new attractions? How do you think they will compare to the existing rides? Share your thoughts in the comments below and join the discussion.
