ANAHEIM, Calif. — Excitement is in the air as Disneyland fans eagerly anticipate the fantastic news expected from the D23 Expo. Rumors of themed lands based on beloved Disney properties such as “Frozen,” “Avatar,” and “Zootopia” have set the imaginations of Disney enthusiasts alight. Further whispers hint at the possibility of attractions inspired by “Coco’s” vibrant spirit world and even Disney’s iconic villains.

On Thursday, Disneyland President Ken Potrock stirred the anticipation by informing the media to brace for significant announcements concerning Disneyland, set to be revealed during a 90-minute panel on Saturday night at the D23 Expo. The expo, a biennial gathering for the most devoted Disney fans, promises an insider’s first look at a slew of new movies, films, projects, and other exciting offerings from the entertainment giant.

Josh D’Amaro, the chairman of Disney Experiences, is set to unveil the company’s future plans directly from the Honda Center floor, detailing which of Disney’s extensive intellectual properties will be transformed into immersive attractions and lands across the globe. “When Josh presents on Saturday, talking about Disney experiences and all the new things, I feel very confident that a significant portion will concern the Disneyland Resort,” Potrock teased.

In past expos, Disney has introduced several upgrades and new experiences, such as the transformation of Pacific Wharf into the world of “Big Hero 6” and thrilling new meet-and-greets. However, some notable projects, like a third E-ticket attraction for the Avengers Campus, have yet to materialize, leaving fans eager for concrete developments beyond mere Blue Sky concepts.

This year, optimism is palpable with the DisneylandForward initiative gaining traction. Set to reshape the Disneyland Resort over the next four decades, this initiative promises new rides, hotels, entertainment, and retail projects. With a commitment of at least $1.9 billion in investments for the first ten years, there’s a lot to look forward to. Disney CEO Bob Iger has already confirmed that an Avatar-themed area is on its way, though specifics about its location and design remain under wraps.

During the media preview, Bruce Vaughn, Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Imagineering, assured fans that more than just concepts will be revealed. “Building, delivering, putting shovels in the dirt is even better,” Vaughn declared. Disney enthusiasts are invited to return to the Imagineering booth on Sunday after Saturday night’s big reveal for more detailed announcements.
