Big News for Disney+ Subscribers: Prices Going Up!
Get ready Disney fans, because starting October 17, subscribing to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ is going to cost a bit more. The Walt Disney Company has announced this price hike roughly one year after their last increase in the U.S.
Here’s the breakdown: If you enjoy Disney+ with ads, the price will jump by $2 to $9.99 per month. The ad-free version will also rise by $2, setting you back $15.99 monthly. Hulu with ads will increase to $9.99 from $7.99, while the ad-free service sees a bump from $14.99 to $18.99. Over at ESPN+, the cost edges up to $11.99 per month from the current $10.99. These changes come as Disney prepares to unveil its fiscal third-quarter earnings.
Disney’s quest to make its streaming services profitable is a key driver behind these hikes. Drawing inspiration from Netflix’s strategies, Disney is also focusing on curbing password sharing. There’s good news though—the bundle deals will still be financially savvy. For instance, bundling Hulu with ads and Disney+ will go up to $10.99 per month, only $1 more than Disney+ alone with ads. Disney is confident that this approach will appeal to subscribers.
The company even struck a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to offer a bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and Max for ad-supported and ad-free plans. This move is all part of their strategy to reduce churn and manage subscriber acquisition costs, ensuring they stay competitive in the market.
