Last weekend marked a dramatic moment for Disneyland guests when a ride malfunction caused quite a stir in Fantasyland. Witnesses captured the incident on video, revealing that even with the tireless efforts of Walt Disney Imagineers, occasional technical issues remain an inevitable part of operating 66-year-old attractions.
In this particular instance, TikTok user @amanda_explores_disney documented her experience aboard the Alice in Wonderland ride. The footage shows their caterpillar-shaped vehicle coming alarmingly close to another before an unexpected collision occurred. As their caterpillar entered the indoor section, the doors failed to reset in time, resulting in the ride vehicle slamming into the wooden entryway and coming to an abrupt stop.
“Oh my god,” exclaimed the shaken rider. “Just got smacked by the door on Alice in Wonderland.” A cast member promptly addressed the situation over the loudspeaker, instructing everyone to stay seated and wait for assistance. Evidently, the ride had been acting “kind of jumpy” before the incident, according to the guest.
Fortunately, no one was harmed, and after a brief pause, the guests were escorted through an evacuation route, getting an unexpected glimpse behind the magic. Despite the hiccup, the guests relished their unique exit from the beloved classic.
