Disney has unveiled a considerable reshuffling of its movie release calendar, causing quite a buzz among fans and cinema-goers alike. Notably, 11 new untitled projects from the main Disney studio, Marvel, Pixar, and Disney Animation have been slated for 2027, teasing an exciting future lineup.
More immediately, Searchlight Pictures’ Sundance favorite, “A Real Pain,” written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg, will be moving from its original release date of October 18 to a limited release on November 1. The film, which stars Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin, has stirred significant anticipation following its acclaim at Sundance.
Marvel Studios, always a focal point for fervent speculation, announced several key changes. “Avengers: Doomsday” will replace the previously scheduled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” on May 1, 2026. Additionally, titles for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “Thunderbolts*” have been updated, signaling refined directions for these hotly awaited films.
Intriguingly, an untitled Marvel film set for July 24, 2026, has been scrapped. This move aligns with Disney CEO Bob Iger’s new strategy to limit Marvel’s output to two to three films per year. However, “Blade,” still targeting a November 7, 2025 release, remains in the pipeline despite not having a confirmed director.
