As the calendar flips to August, the excitement for the spooky season begins to brew, especially at California’s beloved theme parks! Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or looking for some family-friendly fun, there’s something for everyone this Halloween.
First up, Disneyland Resort transforms into a Halloween wonderland from August 23 through October 31. Expect classic attractions like Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, and the ever-charming Haunted Mansion Holiday. The parks will be festooned with autumn decorations and delightful seasonal decor, including the whimsical Main Street Pumpkin Festival featuring unique carved pumpkins shaped like your favorite characters. Mickey’s Trick and Treat will showcase interactive stage shows with Mickey and friends, while Día de los Muertos celebrations offer cultural displays and a vibrant homage to Pixar’s “Coco” at Plaza de la Familia. For a truly immersive experience, consider the Happiest Haunts Guided Tour, where spine-tingling stories come to life. While tickets for the Oogie Boogie Bash are sold out, regular tickets for all the magic can be found on Disneyland’s official site.
Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights promise nights filled with terror from September 5 through November 3. This year’s lineup includes hair-raising haunted houses like Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines, Insidious: The Further, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, A Quiet Place, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface. Three new scare zones—Chainsaw Punkz, Murder of Crowz, and Luchadores Monstruosos—are sure to add even more chills. General admission and special passes are available on the Universal Studios Hollywood site, offering a variety of ways to experience the horror.
But wait, there’s more! Knott’s Scary Farm makes its eerie return on select nights from September 19 through November 2, while SeaWorld San Diego features Spooktacular family events and spine-chilling Howl-O-Screams from mid-September to early November. Don’t miss LEGOLAND California’s Brick-or-Treat Halloween, Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Freight Fest Extreme, and other hauntingly delightful events all across the state.
