In a recent revelation sure to surprise Disney Channel fans, former Disney Channel vice president of casting and talent relations, Cornelia Frame, shared that Zendaya auditioned multiple times for a role in the 2015 television movie, “Descendants.” During an interview on the Magical Rewind podcast, Frame noted, “Zendaya did audition many times for Descendants. It was a really big deal. She auditioned over and over and really wanted it. It just ended up not going her way.”

Despite her multiple auditions, the role ultimately went to other actors. Now an international star thanks to her role in the “Spider-Man” series and the HBO hit “Euphoria,” Zendaya’s career path might have been different had she landed the part in “Descendants.” Frame reflected on this saying, “Things happen for a reason, and you do often book this other thing that’s amazing when you don’t get something else.”

Zendaya was known at the time for her starring role in the Disney Channel series “K.C. Undercover,” which ran for several seasons. “Descendants” eventually starred Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, and Sofia Carson, creating a franchise of movies and animated shorts that became a favorite among Disney fans.

Interestingly, the “Descendants” franchise has continued to thrive with sequels and spin-offs. The latest addition, “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” was released earlier this month on Disney+ and is set to premiere on Disney Channel on August 9.
