Magic is in the air at Disneyland! In a heartwarming turn of events, Disneyland’s beloved cast members have clinched a stellar new deal. After weeks of negotiations, a three-year contract has been inked, granting employees a significant pay boost. A new minimum wage of $24 per hour has been set, along with an average pay increase of $6.10 per employee over the next three years. This deal impacts nearly 14,000 Disneyland workers across various unions, including the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers (BCTGM) Local 83, SEIU-United Service Workers West (SEIU-USWW), Teamsters Local 495, and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 324.

This major milestone comes on the heels of a near-strike situation. Disneyland workers had overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike, putting pressure on both sides to reach a compromise. Their unity and determination paid off, leading to a tentative agreement just days after the vote.

But that’s not all! This contract doesn’t just address pay. Enhancements to sick leave policies were also secured, giving cast members more flexibility to handle personal matters without fear of disciplinary action. The Disney Workers Rising Bargaining Committee expressed immense pride, stating, “By ratifying these contracts, Disney cast members have secured historic raises and policies and protections that reflect their role as magic makers in the Disney parks.”

Disneyland Resort spokesperson Jessica Good chimed in, adding, “We are pleased that our cast members approved the new agreements, which, along with all we offer as part of our employment experience, demonstrate how much we value and respect them and our profound commitment to their overall well-being.”

This is a triumph for the employees who help create the magic that Disneyland guests love. What are your thoughts on this uplifting development? Share with us in the comments below and feel free to spread the magic by sharing this story!
