Excitement is in the air as the Cloughaneely Junior Band, known for their award-winning performances, gears up for a magical moment at Disneyland Paris. Selected to march down the bustling Main Street, U.S.A. this July, the band is all set to transform into “Disney performers” for a day, a dream come true for these dedicated young musicians.
The journey to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity began with the band submitting a video of their captivating performance to Disney. The news of their selection, received during the joyous Christmas season, was a delightful gift for band members and their supporters. Since then, they’ve been busy perfecting Disney classics such as “Beauty and the Beast,” “Part of This World,” “The Lion King,” and “Under the Sea,” rehearsing diligently for the big day on July 3rd.
Gerry O’Donnell, Chairperson of the band, couldn’t hide his pride, saying, “The commitment each member has shown is truly commendable. They have worked tirelessly to master their music and drill routine. Our teachers and committee members have gone above and beyond to ensure this will be a memorable trip for everyone involved.”
Adding to their accolades, the Cloughaneely Junior Band are reigning champions in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Competition and are set to defend their All-Ireland title in Wexford this coming August. The trip to Disneyland Paris, scheduled from July 1st to July 4th, promises to be a memorable experience for the band members, their committee, and their supportive parents.
In celebration of their upcoming adventure, the band will perform their Disney repertoire on June 27th at Ionad Naomh Fionnán. This special showcase is an opportunity for the community to revel in the music that will soon be echoing through Disneyland.
