DisneylandForward: Dreams on the Horizon for Disneyland Fans
With the City of Anaheim’s green light for DisneylandForward, excitement is bubbling over as fans wait with bated breath for the upcoming August D23 event. Hints from Disney top brass have already teased tantalizing new additions, including a confirmed Avatar attraction and a possible World of Frozen area coming to the resort.
Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, recently affirmed the inclusion of an Avatar-themed experience, stirring up curiosity about the details. Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman, also hinted at the potential for Anaheim to feature Hong Kong Disneyland’s celebrated World of Frozen land, a visually stunning and magical setting complete with an indoor boat ride—a personal favorite ride type for many.
Seeing these wondrous lands in Anaheim would be a dream come true. The company’s sneak peeks suggest that the Avatar attraction could incorporate the groundbreaking magnetic boat ride system first tested in Shanghai Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure. If true, this would be an unparalleled experience.
Yet, while excitement is in the air, there’s a word of caution. For DisneylandForward to be a full-fledged success, it should strive to deliver more than just clones of existing attractions. Disneyland boasts a legacy of the first, from tubular steel roller coasters with Matterhorn Bobsleds to Audio-Animatronics in the Enchanted Tiki Room, and it’s the birthplace of the revolutionary hub-and-spoke park layout.
Disneyland deserves to lead the way with pioneering experiences and cutting-edge technologies, ensuring it remains a beloved and trendsetting destination. Let’s push forward and ensure that expansion plans honor the park’s rich history of innovation and storytelling.
